I have just completed the HECPO course with Longmoor Security Ltd. The course commenced on Mon 05 Sep 11 and finished on Mon 26 Sep 11.
The course starts with an immediate intensive FPOS week which proved both rewarding and enjoyable, offering all course students an in depth knowledge above and beyond what was probably expected. The instruction was of the highest quality and probably up there with the best that I had received throughout my 24 year career in the Army! Longmoor deserve great credit in handpicking only the most experienced and deserved trainers on the circuit.
With the FPOS completed after week 1 the focus turned to Corporate Body Guarding and surveillance. Once again the trainer excelled and the whole package was delivered in the highest quality possible. A great emphasis was placed on practical training and the course really elevated itself through students tasked with surveillance and VIP walking drills through a busy Banbury town centre, much fun was had by all!
We were all introduced to new driving skills from a retired instructor from the North Wales police who delivered a first class package of the highest calibre. Great fun was had with exciting motorway convoy and intersection lane changes at high speed, so much so that the course left a huge impression on the trainer who was somewhat overwhelmed by the commitment and professionalism of the course. We all even carried out “J” turns and braking skills with relative ease and many a video clip was taken as a memento.
The Hostile Training package is really where Longmoor excel as we all flew off to Slovenia which I can only describe as a hidden gem of a country. The Tactical Fire Arms phase is amazing and to see all fellow students acquiring a high level of CQB skills after only a few days is again a testimony to the instructors. We fired the Glock Pistol and AK 47 individually and together which was exhilarating. We also had an opportunity to handle and fire a Magnum .45 which is best described as a hand held rocket gun! Again many a photo was taken as memento.
Overall the course is excellent with the accommodation in Heythrop Park being of good quality and the Slovenia package first rate. The training area of Banbury and Oxford is brilliant for the driving exercises and I would strongly recommend this course for anyone wishing to train for a CPO license.
