The Right Honourable Sir John Wheeler, KStJ, HQA, JP, DL, Chairman, served as Member of Parliament for Westminster North from 1979 - 1997. He was Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee from 1979 – 1992 during which time he produced 67 reports including several inquiries into the criminal justice and police policy issues and in 1988, the recommendation to set up the National Criminal Intelligence Service. From 1982 – 1993 he was Chairman of the British Security Industry Association Inspectorate. He was Chairman of the National Criminal Intelligence Service and the National Crime Squad from 1997 - 2002. In 1993, Sir John was appointed a Member of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council and is a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London. From 1993 -1997, he was Deputy Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Finance Minister and Minister for Security. Sir John was Chairman of the Government Review into Airport Security and policing within the UK, 2002 - 2003, and headed An Independent Review into Airport Security and Policing for the Government of Australia in 2005. Sir John is a Trustee of The Police Foundation and was a Trustee of The Order of St John.
Chris Brice and Michael Hanley founded Longmoor Security, both with over 38 years experience of the specialist security market. They have served in both the UK Royal Military Police and UK Police before spending a year in the Middle East as Close Protection Team Leaders in support of coalition government operations. Chris Brice was bodyguard to General Sir Richard Dannatt (current commander of the British Army) during two separate UK Military operations in Kosovo and Bosnia.
Charlie Taylor served in the British Army, he commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in to the Royal Artillery. During his time in the British Army, he was employed as a Troop Commander deploying to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia as part of a multinational peacekeeping force. Moving from Germany to the Army Foundation College, Harrogate he was responsible for the leadership and management training of Army trainees. In 2002, he moved to the British Army's Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) Regiment as Operations Officer, he deployed to Iraq in early 2003 in an intelligence-gathering role.
Peter Fowler has over 38 years experience operating within the security industry, with particular reference to the electronic protection sector. Peter is extensively travelled and has a long history of running successful companies having built and sold two security businesses, successfully carried out acquisitions, disposals and an MBO and has held several senior positions in listed companies. Peter started his career in the security industry in 1970, quickly progressing into senior management roles. In 1980 he founded a specialist electronic security company, Sovereign Security Systems Limited, which became one of the leading independent security companies of its type in the UK and was acquired by the Britannia Security Group Plc in 1987. In 1990, Peter joined the Menvier-Swain Group Plc as Managing Director of the newly acquired security division and has been Chief Executive Officer of the Westminster Group of companies since leading a management buy out of the business in 1996. In 2000 Peter reorganised the business and disposed of the UK alarms business to Chubb in order to concentrate on international business and since that time has developed Westminster into a global business with representation in over 40 countries with an enviable international reputation and an extensive and growing ‘blue chip’ client base. Peter is the CEO of Westminser Group Plc
Nicholas Mearing-Smith, Company Secretary, is a chartered accountant, a former partner of a major stockbroking firm and an ex-investment banker. In 1989 he founded a cable television business, which became part of NYNEX CableComms plc, of which he became Chief Financial Officer. When NYNEX CableComms merged into Cable & Wireless Communications plc, he became Finance Director of the operation which had a £2.3 billion turnover. Both companies were floated on the London Stock Exchange, in 1995 and 1997 respectively. Nicholas left in 1999 to become C.E.O. of an international cable business and has more recently been involved in starting and managing new telecoms and related businesses. Nicholas joined Westminster Group Plc as Finance Director in February 2007.
Stuart Fowler has several years experience of the security industry and has been particularly involved on the design and implementation of more complex integrated systems. Stuart studied computing and business studies at University obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering Honours degree in 1996. After university Stuart joined an IT support and web site design company producing innovative computer web sites for several high profile sites such as Toys-R-Us. He joined Westminster Security Systems Ltd. in 1998 as IT manager and after acquiring considerable experience with the vast array of technical products and equipment in which the Company is involved was appointed a Director within the Group in 2000. Since that time Stuart has been instrumental in the design & implementation of many larger complex systems installed by the Westminster Group Plc.
